rounders ball

U13B v Orwell Park (Lost 17.5-20)
The team started well with a good innings of 10 rounders. Annie Paddon scored on every hit with superb left-handed shots that flummoxed the opposition. Beth Carnell also took great risks with her running which paid off to build up the score. RHS then fielded and, to begin with, kept the score down with composed fielding. Unfortunately, some mistakes then crept in allowing Orwell to capitalise. Annie Paddon bowled well and Morgan Thompson as backstop controlled the game well. With RHS leading 10-9 at half time it was all to play for. RHS batted again with Shennise Robertson scoring well this time and Lucy Wong sneaking half rounders when she could. However they only made a total of 17.5. Orwell were put under pressure to begin with and were kept at bay. There was some good fielding from the RHS team; Alice Killian on 2nd base was very secure and Nuria playing her final game for the School made an excellent catch. It was in the last 5 bowls that RHS let it slip and Orwell scored a total of 4.5 off 5 bowls taking them into the lead. An exciting finish to the game!

U12 v Orwell Park U13C (Won 18-11)
The U12s beat Orwell Park U13Cs in convincing fashion on Wednesday. Captained by Lucia Soler, the girls put in a solid first innings of batting, scoring 11 rounders, and the whole team got on the score sheet in some way or another. After some fantastic fielding and bowling the girls only conceded 2.5 rounders in the first half. By the end of the match, RHS had won 18-11 with standout all round performances from Lily Mason and Esme Peter, and some great fielding from Rosie George. Player of the match was Lucia Soler.

U13A v Orwell Park (Lost 39-16)
The U13A team played a game of ‘All Out Rounders’ as opposed to ‘Counted Balls Rounders’ at Orwell Park. The first innings was a close fought contest with both teams very focused and some excellent fielding from Millie Salter, Tilly Arulampalam and Libby Parker.  Tilly and Millie were the last 2 RHS players left in and they made it difficult for Orwell Park to get them out by excellent batting and speedy sprinting. The score after the first innings was 7—7.5 in favour of RHS. In the second innings, Orwell ran away with the match with 2 players left in for a long time and a cumulative score of 39 rounders. Millie Salter made two excellent catches, fielding at 2nd deep and RHS brought their score up to a credible 16 with George Nicholls, Holly Folkard Smith and Libby Parker being the last 3 players left in. The final score was 39-16 in a very different game compared to what the girls usually play. Player of the match was Millie Salter.

U15A v Langley (L 15.5- 16)
The U15A played against Langley School in rather slippery conditions. The RHS team made a number of fielding mistakes to allow Langley to score 9.5 in the first innings and they could only score 7 in their 1st innings. With 7 RHS players being put out during the innings through either hitting to the opposition or making the wrong decisions on running. The 2nd innings was much tighter. RHS fielded much better and restricted Langley to 6.5. Captain Charlene Tait made two very good catches. Going in to bat RHS were far more observant and positive with Cassia Peacock in particular scoring every hit by selectively placing the ball. However 5 players were put out in the last 10 bowls leaving Langley ahead by ½ rounder. Cassia was named player of the match.

U15A v Ipswich High School W 13.5-6.5
The U15As kicked off their rounders season in style in the local derby match against Ipswich High. With some tight fielding in their first innings the girls, captained by Charlene Tait, only allowed Ipswich High to score 1.5 rounders. RHs batted well in the first innings and were treated to several, well executed rounders from Millie Ainsworth and Cassia Peacock. In the second innings Ipswich High only managed to draw level with our score. A few more rounders under our belt and RHS secured a 13.5 to 6.5 win. Player of the match was Millie Ainsworth for some fantastic bowling.

U15B v Ipswich High School W 11-10
The U15B had a close game against Ipswich High but managed to keep their composure in both batting and fielding. Alice Youngs and Hannah Southerton both batted well, allowing RHS to score a total of 11 rounders. Hope Moonan and Jess Irving played a calm and consistent game in the field restricting Ipswich High to a score of 10.

U14A v Ipswich High School L 15-14.5
The U14As played an impressive first half, batting their way to a comfortable lead at half time. Unfortunately, Ipswich High upped their game and produced some strong batting, despite a valiant defensive effort from RHS and an incredible catch by Izzy Pearson. The overall score was 15 to 14 and a half to Ipswich High.

U14B v Ipswich High School W 13.5-12
The Bs had a great match and really set out to take the game. Captained by Beth Dwerryhouse they were even after the first innings but with good batting from Serena Brown and some excellent fielding from Tilly Ager and bowling by Molly Freeman, RHS took the lead winning finally 13.5 to 12.

U13A v St Joseph’s D 9-9
During the first innings, the U13s were slow to respond to good hitting from the opposition although George Nicholls took an impressive catch. The batting innings from RHS saw full rounders from Millie Salter and Tilly Arulampalam. The score was very close at half time, with only half a rounder between the teams. The second and third innings were very evenly matched the final score being 9 rounders all. Millie took an very impressive catch on a long ball, making her the player of the match.

U13B v St Joseph’s L 10.5-7
The U13B rounder’s team, captained by Annie Paddon, faced St Josephs in their first rounders game of the season. The team got off to a good start in the first innings with displays of confident batting and some excellent fielding in parts, particularly by Alice Kilian on 2nd post. However, as a result of cautious play particularly when batting, RHS found themselves 2 and a half rounders down at the end of the first innings. After a tactical team talk, RHS capitalised on their no balls and Shenise Robertson scored a fantastic rounder on ball 20 thanks to a massive hit. However, too many errors were made whilst fielding and so the final score was 10.5 to 7 to St Josephs’. Player of the match was awarded to Alice Kilian for her fantastic fielding at 2nd base and her ability to read the game well.

U12A v St Joseph’s W 13.5- 5.5
A great start to the season for the U12 team as they showed their strength against St Joseph’s. Unfortunately the opposition were struggling for numbers so two of the RHS reserves played for St Joseph’s and caught out a couple of their own team mates. In the first innings the RHS batting was rather slow however, once the girls got their eye, in the rounders flowed.  Overall after two innings Amelia Anderson had scored 2, Charlotte Stenning 2 and Freya Guckian, Yasmin Gradwick-Light and Morgan Thomas all scored 1. Molly Entwhistle scored from an excellent hit but she unfortunately slipped as she ran past 4th post resulting in a sprained wrist. The team fielded very well only allowing St Joseph’s to score 1.5 in the first innings and 4 in the second. Morgan Thomas bowled well and Yasmin Gradwick-Light was excellent as backstop. Charlotte Stenning and Molly Entwistle, and then Freya Guckian, combined very well on the 2nd base duo.

rhs-cricket

1st XI v Ipswich School (L 91 all out)
After winning the toss our 1st XI were bowled out for 91 on the Saturday block fixture with Ipswich School. The Ipswich bowlers were impressive with both pace and control as RHS found the going tough on a good cricket wicket. Losing both Michael Cowdrey and Ollie Lovejoy to leading edges, RHS found themselves in perpetual trouble. Only a resilient knock of 25 by Ben Osborne and some lusty blows by Tom Miller and Brendon Tait allowed us to reach 91 all out. In reply, Ipswich looked comfortable with their two Essex Academy players looking most impressive. Ipswich cantered home in mid-afternoon with the loss of three wickets.

2nd XI v Ipswich School (W by 6 wickets)
Our 2nds in stark contrast defeated Ipswich by 6 wickets bowling them out for just 49. The RHS 2nd XI bowled and fielded exceptionally well with captain Calder Trewin-Marshall, Ollie Sellers and Jesse Vogel taking 3 wickets each. The catching was truly excellent with James Parker taking three sharp chances at first slip. In total 9 catches were taken by RHS with Ipswich School bowled out for 49 in 19 overs, on a good batting wicket at Holbrook. Runs were at a premium as Ipswich bowled well with RHS taking 17 overs to reach the target. Openers, James Parker making 18 and Charlie Wuidart-Gray undefeated for 10 saw RHS achieve a comfortable 6 wicket win.

3rd XI v Ipswich School (L by 23 runs)
Ipswich 3rd XI found themselves 0 for 3 as Robert Ash blew their top order away. However some complacency by RHS allowed the home side to score an above average 161.  Robert Cowper Cowles was the best RHS batsman on show with RHS losing by 23 runs – it should have been closer!

U15A XI v Ipswich School (L 100 for 8)
Although the U15A catching was much improved this week, they could not prevent defeat at Ipswich. A bit of wayward bowling by the RHS seamers allowed the opposition to reach 148 for 8 in their 25 overs. Leg-spinner, William Parmeter-Stratta, was the pick of the bowlers. In reply, our early batting badly lacked some energy and only some late hard hitting from Toby Buckland, who made an agressive 40, propelled us to the semi-respectable 100 for 8.

U15B XI v Ipswich School (L 77 all out)
In the U15B match, Ipswich School made 137 for 7 of 25, sadly extras amounted to 50 runs but on the plus side Fergus Tribe took 3 for 23 off his 5 overs. RHS scored 77 all out with Ben Price getting 14 and Tribe getting 10, sadly, the rest did not make double figures.

U14A XI v Ipswich School (winning draw)
The U14As made an encouraging start to the season with a convincing winning draw against a steady Ipswich side in a declaration game. After being asked to bat, the RHS top order stuttered and only Sam Docherty, making his RHS debut at No3, provided early resistance with a patient 24. As the innings progressed, RHS began to gain the upper hand and a run-a-ball 50 from Charlie Miles and an impressive cameo from Kieran Farrer saw the team reach 155-6 declared after 34 overs. The Ipswich reply began at pace and at 93-3 it seemed that they might chase down the RHS total until a miserly spell of 5 overs for 6 runs from Callum Hensby and 3 for 15 from Nick Paddon put paid to their hopes leaving them 107-7 at the close in our satisfactory winning draw.

U14B XI v Ipswich School (W by 4 wickets)
The U14Bs went one further by defeating Ipswich School easily by 4 wickets with Elliott Rayment making 53 runs in an excellent and positive performance at home. Acting coach, Mr Clive Rennison, was impressed and pleased to compliment the team to regular coach, Mr Carl Gould.

Junior 1st XI v Orwell Park (W by 14 runs)
The Junior 1st XI defeated Orwell Park by 14 runs, but in truth they were always in control having set a challenging target on a difficult batting track. Alex Oxley batted from start to finish, scoring 85 not out, after he and captain, Josh Frame, put on 72 for the first wicket. Spinners, Frame and Fergus Atkins, together with inswinging Thomas Paddon bowled well and created much pressure for the Orwell batsmen. This good bowling restricted Orwell Park to 120-5 in their allocated overs in reply to RHS’s 134-2, which saw RHS win by 14 runs.

Junior 2nd XI v Orwell Park (L by 60 runs)
The Junior 2nds lost by 60 runs as our Under 12 bowlers strayed from their normal line and length.

Junior 3rd XI v Orwell Park (W by 27 runs)
Our Junior 3rds batted first and made 96 for 7 in 20 overs with John Well aggressively hitting some late runs. Orwell Park 3rds mustered 69 for 8 from their 20 overs which saw RHS win by 27 runs. Varun Nayar was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets whilst special mention must be made of John Wells’ and Tom Ponsonby’s wonderful catches.

Earlier in the week four matches were played against Felstead Prep

Junior 1st XI v Felsted Prep (L by 50 runs)
The Junior 1st XI lost at Felsted Prep having played some excellent cricket for half the game. Electing to bowl first, our boys did extremely well with Cameron Jordan coping brilliantly against the two opening batsmen. Once the spinners came on we slowed the run-rate down before Elliott Chilvers bowled effectively at the death. 121 was the RHS target which was a below par total on an excellent wicket and quick outfield for late April but, unbelievably, the RHS top order were dismissed by four brilliant direct run-outs which killed any chance of victory. Alex Oxley was run-out to a brilliant pick up and throw at one stump from square, whilst Josh Frame, Fergus Atkins and William Kempster cannot be criticised as they tried to show positive intent in their running between the wickets. RHS fell short by some 50 runs as only Cillian Rew showed some stubborn resistance after the wonderful fielding by Felsted Prep.

Junior 2nd XI v Felsted Prep (L)
Felstead Prep Junior 2nds were 138 for 7 when they declared. The wides and no balls were costly to the RHS 2nds, together with a couple of important drop catches, although generally the RHS fielding was good. Only two batsman got starts, Tom Ponsonby and Cory Stone again. Stone was dismissed by a brilliant slip catch, but almost everyone else gave their wicket away in search of runs.

Junior 3rd XI v Felsted Prep (Drew)
The RHS Junior 3rds enjoyed most of the game but could only draw at home to Felsted in their declaration game. RHS made a creditable 99/8 declaring just after tea on a difficult batting wicket. Felsted went off in positive fashion before Finn Anderson clawed it back with some fight as the visitors finished on 82/9. RHS couldn’t get that final wicket for victory.

Junior 4th XI v Felsted Prep (W by 6 wickets)
The Junior 4ths went one better by easily defeating Felsted Prep 4ths and chasing down an excellent 160 for victory by 6 wickets with Tom Young making an undefeated half century on his RHS debut. Young put on 121 with Max Cullinane who made 37 not out.

Maiden Century for Michael Cowdrey
Final bit of cricket news this week: Michael Cowdrey, the Under 15 Opening batsman who has played some Senior 1st XI cricket this season, made his maiden century on Sunday for Cambridgeshire Under 15s for whom he captains. Well done Michael, a great moment in anyone’s cricket career.

Competition: Royal Hospital School, Woodbridge, Gresham’s, Woodbridge, Ipswich High School, Ipswich school and Brandeston prep

A good all round display for the first athletics match of the season, with the Year 7 girls competing for the very first time and coming 4th. There were good performances from Molly Entwistle who won the hurdles and Charlotte Stenning who won the 300m.

The Year 8 team came 2nd by just 3 points to a strong Grehsam’s side. Libby Parker ran close to a School Record in the 300m and Annie Tavianavesi and Mille Salter won the shot and javelin respectively.

The highlight for the Year 9 team was a superb effort from Jorgyella Thorpe. She threw a new School Record of 9.72m to win the shot. However, the team struggled and came 5th on the day.

Year 10 flew the flag for RHS winning the event by 7 points over Ipswich School. Sophie Rennison won both her hurdles and high jump and Lucy Watson won the long jump. The team had a storming win in the `A` relay to finish off a great start to the season.

1st XI v Greshams (W by 26 runs)
The 1st XI enjoyed a fine victory by defeating Greshams by 26 runs in a shortened 28 over affair. Rain ruined any prospect of play before lunch and winning the toss was then significant as Greshams were invited to bowl but initially with a damp ball. Our Senior side mustered a par 121/9 which was worth 140 with the heavy outfield. Josh Allday and Oliver Lovejoy top scored with 29 runs each. Both U15 debutants Michael Cowdrey and Toby Allday did not look out of place on their debuts in senior 1st XI. After tea, the RHS bowlers found some early season form with leading paceman, Brendan Tait, bowling particularly tightly in tandem with Toby Allday and Cam Kerr. The Greshams batsmen found the going tough as our bowlers were supported by some excellent catches. 1st XI Captain, Drew Felstead, was particularly impressive behind the stumps taking a fine stumping standing up to the seamers.

Senior 3rd XI v Greshams (W by 26 runs)
The Senior 3rd XI enjoyed a similar 26 run win over Greshams. They posted a challenging 139 before our bowlers defended the total in a 25 over afternoon match.  Robert Ash was the impressive bowler on show, but it was Max Dixey who claimed the most wickets with 4. The catching was superb with captain, Seb Starling and George Bacon taking stunning catches in their fine victory.

U15B v Greshams (W by 169 runs)
The performance of the weekend was undoubtedly by our U15Bs. Man of the match was Ben Connor who battered Greshams for 115 runs off just 60 balls on a astro-wicket. His match-winning knock saw him strike 14 fours and 7 sixes in his team’s total of 204/6 off just 25 overs. He was ably supported by Toby Oliver (25) and Ollie Williams (27). Not content with his batting, Ben then dismantled Greshams batting by taking 5 wickets with his fast bowling. Ben will look forward to receiving his new bat to commemorate his first schoolboy century in the Headmaster’s Assembly.

U13B v Greshams (Won)
After some fine RHS U13B team bowling, Greshams Junior 3rds made 78/7 in their 25 overs. Cory Stone, Tom Ponsonby and Toyo Ogunlesi all bowling well as an unit. Our U13Bs cantered to an easy win by losing just 4 wickets with Peter Dwerryhouse seeing off the opening bowlers and then Tom Ponsonby and Oscar Johnson seeing us home with nine overs spare.

U15A v Greshams (L by 9 wickets)
Charlie Kerr was the stand-out batsman on either side and our bowlers were generally better than Greshams’, but sadly our fielders dropped catches which allowed the opposition to record an easy 9 wicket win.

U12A v Gresham’s (L by 7 wickets)
The Under 12s will have taken great heart from their game but also learnt much from their very first match together in senior school cricket. Hamish Comonte performed extremely well with both bat and ball on his debut and put on a fine 45 run third wicket partnership with Harvey Crallan.

All the matches away at Greshams were cancelled due to the rain: 2nd XI, U14A, U14B U13A and U12B.

Tuesday 18 March Senior Fixtures v New Hall

1st V11 v New Hall (L 32-27) The first quarter was a disaster for the RHS team as they let New Hall establish a comfortable easy rhythm without offering any opposition. RHS then turned the game around and became more competitive throughout, particularly with Sonia Lei dominating in the centre and Emily Davidson Brett marking her shooter out of the game. RHS won the second quarter 9 goals to 6 and then drew in the third quarter 5 goals each still however, leaving the score adrift 23-18. The final quarter saw New Hall return their GA to her dominating position, strengthening their attacking position. Despite drawing in goals again, RHS were unable to take any turn overs and could not make up the deficit from the first quarter. Players of the match were Sonia Lei and Arabella Murrison.

2nd V11 v New Hall (W 28-13) RHS had a strong start against New Hall and after the quarter were leading 6-1. This was due to accurate shooting from both Anna Wynn and Annabelle Sweeney. The second quarter saw New Hall step up their intensity and start to close the score line. RHS responded to this and dominated the second half. Defenders Charlotte Heley and Abi Sweeney worked hard to make interceptions for their team and the shooters rewarded this by scoring. The final quarter saw RHS pull ahead even further with great movement from the midcourt this made RHS’s job easier. Final score 28-13.

Wednesday 19 March Junior Fixtures v Norwich

U13A v Norwich (L 16-21) The U13A team had a well contested game against Norwich however did not remain consistent throughout. Despite a great effort in the defensive end from Annie Tavainavesi and Libby Parker it was not going to be RHS’s day. With moments of excellence followed by dips of poor passing RHS could not take the lead against a well drilled Norwich side. George Nicholls slotted into the attacking end nicely and showed great improvements throughout the game which is a positive sign on building a strong U13 squad. Player of the match was Libby Parker

U13B v Norwich (L 8-20) The team started the match strong and were only 2—1 down after the first quarter. Again in the second quarter, the score was 4—3, making the half time score 6—4 to Norwich. Molly Williamson stepped up to the mark as wing attack and played well during the first half, alongside Molly Irving as center. Shooter, Beth Carnell, soldiered on despite a sore finger but Norwich ran away with the game during the second half. The final score was 20—8. Player of the match was Shennise Robertson for her determination throughout the entire match.

U12A v Norwich (L 12-6) The team started slowly despite having home advantage and by the end of the first quarter Norwich were 6-1 ahead. RHS started to play their own game of netball in the second, dictating the play themselves instead of following Norwich. The defence worked very hard with Freya Guckian and Ruby Parker working a back line pass very well. The score at the end of this quarter was 8-2 to Norwich. Then the RHS attack improved with Charlotte Stenning making a number of good interceptions to turn the ball around. Mollie Entwistle and Rebecca Sweeney used the space sensibly to get the ball to the ‘D’. Eliza Tribe and Yasmin Gradwick- Light were then left to finish off the work of the ball being brought through the court. They kept level with Norwich so that the last 2 quarters were draws 2 goals apiece but it still left a deficit. Overall the team worked well but the percentage of shots on target needs to be higher and consistent and this only comes with practice.

U12B v Norwich (L 15-7) The game got off to a very competitive start with both teams making lots of interceptions. Some fantastic work between Lucia Soler at WA and Amelia Anderson at GA allowed RHS to score the first goal of the game. However, RHS struggled to intercept the ball against the tall Norwich shooters and so the score at quarter time was 5-2. The second quarter was better for RHS, Katy Bagnall at GK and Alice Clayton at GD made plenty of interceptions which allowed Morgan Thomas to score some very impressive mid-range shots, and the score at half time was 6-4 to Norwich. In the third quarter, RHS let their nerves get the better of them and they made lots of unforced errors which allowed Norwich to further their lead. However, in the last quarter RHS managed to compose themselves and Lily Mason made some fantastic interceptions at WD. Izzy Butler was patient with the ball and fed the shooting circle well but unfortunately RHS could not catch up with Norwich and the final score was 15-7. Player of the match was awarded to Lucia for her excellent work at WA.

U12C v Norwich (D 7-7) The U12C team played a good game despite their relative lack of match experience. Although the game was low scoring the centre court players had an extremely busy game. They drew 7-7 against a well matched opposition. Players of the match were Immy Pearson and Esmé Peters.

Thursday 20 March U15B & C v St Felix

U15B V Saint Felix (L 11-18) The U15Bs had a tough game against Saint Felix. In the first quarter, the girls found it hard to keep up in the defending end however in the second quarter the girls came back with a better result. Great play from Hannah Southerton and Olivia Jones helped a great deal in bringing the ball through court. Some great shooting from Sammi Chiu meant that RHS contested until the final whistle. Player of the match was Olivia Jones

U15C v St Felix B (L 13-8) A disappointing match for RHS who had opportunities to take control of the game but squandered them. Movement of the ball through the court was very erratic and there was no rhythm to the game which allowed St Felix to take their chances and convert the goals. Ellie Rowe had a good game in defence and was named player of the match

Saturday 22 March Fixtures v Bishops Stortford

1st V11 v Bishops Stortford (L 32-24) The first team had their penultimate match of the season at home against Bishops Stortford College. RHS had a slow start to the game, allowing the opposing team to pull away quickly in the first quarter. There were periods of good play when RHS looked as though they would pull back on the early deficit, but errors allowed the opposition to creep further ahead and win the quarter 12-6. The second quarter saw a much more determined RHS defence, with Hannah Garlick making several interceptions and Amy Arana-Wade tracking her player well through the centre court. RHS had some excellent periods of play in attack in this quarter and held Bishops Stortford to a 6 all draw. However, shooting opportunities were missed and too many errors were made by RHS when they lost composure bringing the ball through court. Half time saw some changes with Floz Vivian coming in to the GA position and Tash Jones coming on at WD. Tash made an impact in defence, restricting the play of the skilled Bishop Stortford WA and Hannah Garlick continued to turn the ball over, allowing RHS to draw this quarter seven goals apiece. Sadly the final quarter saw Bishops Stortford pull further ahead as RHS could not match them for shooting opportunities or accuracy. Despite the disappointing final score line of 34-24, RHS can be pleased with some good periods of play. Player of the Match was Hannah Garlick

2nd V11 V Bishops Stortford (L 17-22) The Seconds had a competitive match against a strong Bishops Stortford side and with an instant interception from Izzy Dixon, RHS took the lead. RHS dominated in the first quarter and won 7-5 but Bishops Stortford came out fighting and, with some quick movement in their circle, started to pull back. Despite some superb interceptions from Abi Sweeney, RHS could not convert the goals and at half time it was 11-11. Although RHS had some great play in their attacking end from Hattie Botwright, with some well-timed drives into space, RHS could not maintain their lead. A good performance from the team, but a lack in consistency led to a final score of 17-22. Hattie Botwright was player of the match.

3rd V11 v Bishops Stortford (L6-38) The 3rd team faced tough opposition with passing that continually kept RHS on the defensive. There were completely dominated by a much stronger Stortford team. Lucy Bradley at WA was player of the match for quick, agile movement and fast breaks from the centre passes.

U15A V11 v Bishops Stortford (L 37-18) The first quarter of this game was very competitive with both teams scoring early on. The attack applied great defensive pressure which enabled plenty of through court turnovers and, as a result, RHS went 4-1 up. Bishops Stortford had a very fast style of play which RHS defence struggled to control and so, unfortunately, at quarter time the score was 7-5 to Bishops Stortford. In the second and third quarters, RHS struggled to keep up with the fast and physical opposition. Despite some great shooting by Anna Khan and Millie Orr, along with some great attacking play by Sophie Rennison and Cass Peacock, RHS were down at three quarter time 28-11. The last quarter was much better with Charlene Tait at GK and Milly Ainsworth at GD taking many interceptions off the Bishops Stortford shooters which allowed RHS to score the first 3 goals of the quarter. Sophie Atkinson played well at WD but it was a case of ‘too little too late’ and the final score was 37-18. Player of the match was awarded to Anna Khan for her fantastic shooting and Millie Orr for her tireless work at GA.

U14A V11 v Bishops Stortford (L 24-10) Players of the match Serena Brown and Amelia Keitley-Webb

U14B V11 v B. Stortford (L 25-13) Players of the match Auriol Symons and Tabitha Saunders

In the County U14 Tournament RHS had a good series of games.

General Hockey RHS

RHS v Framlingham (L 5-0)
In our first game RHS came up against a very strong Framlingham team. Despite playing some decent hockey, in particular by Ben Arulampalam, RHS lost this game 5-0.

RHS v Woodbridge (D 0-0)
Against Woodbridge, in an excellent first half, the team created lots of opportunities but failed to score. Despite dominating large parts of the game, slack finishing meant the game finished at 0-0.

RHS v Culford (W 1-0)
Nick Paddon played very well which meant that we managed to keep the ball for most of the game and an excellent goal from Zack Puckey meant that RHS won 1-0.

RHS v Ipswich (D 0-0)
The final game was against Ipswich. This was a very even game and Scott Taylor managed to get on the ball and create some opportunities. A tiring RHS worked very hard to create openings but really the game could have been won by either team. The final score was 0-0.

Games on Saturday were against Culford.

U14B v Culford (L 5-3)
Kev Tavainavesi scored first from an impossible angle but then the Culford attack proved too quick for our defenders. Further goals from Harry Pugh and Callum Hensby kept RHS in the game until he final whistle.

U14A v Culford (L 4-3)
The U14As started incredibly slowly allowing Culford  the majority of possession, the score at half time was 1-1. In the second half, Elliot Rayment dominated the right hand side and Charlie Miles ran some excellent lines. Despite creating lots of opportunities and playing the better hockey, uncharacteristic soft defending meant we gave away goals far too easily. The final score was 4-3 and players of the match were Elliot Rayment and Will Christmas.

U15B v Culford (D 2-2)
The U15B team drew 2-2 and could easily have scored more with 21 shots in the second half! Goals were converted by Cedric Hoskyns-Abrahall and Matt Saxby. The tireless Toby Oliver was man of the match.

U15A v Culford (L 6-1)
The A team found Culfords finishing too clinical despite some great saves from keeper Lexy Peterson. Final score 6-1 to the hosts.

2nd v Culford (W 3-1)
The 2nds kept great shape and discipline to overcome a spirited Culford side. Goals from Cameron Kerr, Brendan Tait and Harvey Sellers saw RHS home to pleasing win 3-1.

1st v Culford (L 4-2)
The first VII produced their strongest performance of the season so far, but unfortunately still came away on the wrong end of the score line. RHS dominated the first half with Ollie Lovejoy scoring. However, two short corner goals gave Culford an undeserved half time lead. The visitors started strongly in the second half as RHS were slow out of the blocks. Despite this, the team rallied again and Jessie Vogel capped an excellent individual performance with a goal from a penalty stroke to leave the final result a disappointing, yet promising, 4-2 loss
