Head of Drama
This term we welcome 170 new pupils to the Royal Hospital School, but also a number of new members of staff. We have invited them to tell us a little bit about themselves.
First is Mr Damon Kerr, the new Head of Drama:
Educated at Dulwich College, he went on to study English and Theatre Studies at Durham and Lancaster Universities. During which time he appeared as a performer and musical director in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in an adaptation of ‘The BFG’. He has taught at Beaverwood School for girls in Chislehurst, Townley Grammar in Bexleyheath and for the last eleven years was head of Drama at Brighton College.
Damon is married to Philippa, a music teacher and performer, and they have three children, aged twelve, nine and four. He enjoys playing the piano, reading, walking wine-tasting, struggling with the bassoon and his eight week old black labrador pup. He is an experienced director of musicals as well as being interested in devised theatre. Damon is excited to be joining the Royal Hospital School and is looking forward to raising the profile of drama within the School and beyond.
