U15A v Ipswich High School W 13.5-6.5
The U15As kicked off their rounders season in style in the local derby match against Ipswich High. With some tight fielding in their first innings the girls, captained by Charlene Tait, only allowed Ipswich High to score 1.5 rounders. RHs batted well in the first innings and were treated to several, well executed rounders from Millie Ainsworth and Cassia Peacock. In the second innings Ipswich High only managed to draw level with our score. A few more rounders under our belt and RHS secured a 13.5 to 6.5 win. Player of the match was Millie Ainsworth for some fantastic bowling.

U15B v Ipswich High School W 11-10
The U15B had a close game against Ipswich High but managed to keep their composure in both batting and fielding. Alice Youngs and Hannah Southerton both batted well, allowing RHS to score a total of 11 rounders. Hope Moonan and Jess Irving played a calm and consistent game in the field restricting Ipswich High to a score of 10.

U14A v Ipswich High School L 15-14.5
The U14As played an impressive first half, batting their way to a comfortable lead at half time. Unfortunately, Ipswich High upped their game and produced some strong batting, despite a valiant defensive effort from RHS and an incredible catch by Izzy Pearson. The overall score was 15 to 14 and a half to Ipswich High.

U14B v Ipswich High School W 13.5-12
The Bs had a great match and really set out to take the game. Captained by Beth Dwerryhouse they were even after the first innings but with good batting from Serena Brown and some excellent fielding from Tilly Ager and bowling by Molly Freeman, RHS took the lead winning finally 13.5 to 12.

U13A v St Joseph’s D 9-9
During the first innings, the U13s were slow to respond to good hitting from the opposition although George Nicholls took an impressive catch. The batting innings from RHS saw full rounders from Millie Salter and Tilly Arulampalam. The score was very close at half time, with only half a rounder between the teams. The second and third innings were very evenly matched the final score being 9 rounders all. Millie took an very impressive catch on a long ball, making her the player of the match.

U13B v St Joseph’s L 10.5-7
The U13B rounder’s team, captained by Annie Paddon, faced St Josephs in their first rounders game of the season. The team got off to a good start in the first innings with displays of confident batting and some excellent fielding in parts, particularly by Alice Kilian on 2nd post. However, as a result of cautious play particularly when batting, RHS found themselves 2 and a half rounders down at the end of the first innings. After a tactical team talk, RHS capitalised on their no balls and Shenise Robertson scored a fantastic rounder on ball 20 thanks to a massive hit. However, too many errors were made whilst fielding and so the final score was 10.5 to 7 to St Josephs’. Player of the match was awarded to Alice Kilian for her fantastic fielding at 2nd base and her ability to read the game well.

U12A v St Joseph’s W 13.5- 5.5
A great start to the season for the U12 team as they showed their strength against St Joseph’s. Unfortunately the opposition were struggling for numbers so two of the RHS reserves played for St Joseph’s and caught out a couple of their own team mates. In the first innings the RHS batting was rather slow however, once the girls got their eye, in the rounders flowed.  Overall after two innings Amelia Anderson had scored 2, Charlotte Stenning 2 and Freya Guckian, Yasmin Gradwick-Light and Morgan Thomas all scored 1. Molly Entwhistle scored from an excellent hit but she unfortunately slipped as she ran past 4th post resulting in a sprained wrist. The team fielded very well only allowing St Joseph’s to score 1.5 in the first innings and 4 in the second. Morgan Thomas bowled well and Yasmin Gradwick-Light was excellent as backstop. Charlotte Stenning and Molly Entwistle, and then Freya Guckian, combined very well on the 2nd base duo.
