On Sunday 23 March, 21 members of Hadleigh Rugby Football Club U14 squad took part in a Charity Triathlon at the Royal Hospital School to raise money for Help for Heroes.
Event organiser and rugby coach for the Hadeligh RFC U14s, Tim Ferdinand, said,
Every one of the participants completed the course – a 420m swim in the RHS pool, a 14km bike ride around Alton Water and a 3km run – and the fastest finished in an amazing 1 hour, 14 minutes and 15 seconds! The boys have already raised £1,600 for Help for Heroes and, with a few more sponsorship donations to collect, we hope we may reach £2,000 – which would be a really wonderful result. The boys and girls who took part, though exhausted at the end, all wanted to know if they could do it again next year, so they clearly enjoyed it. As coach I was tremendously proud of the fact that everyone completed the course and I suspect that quite a few of them surprised themselves with their times. It was great to see young people challenging themselves and supporting the community by giving up their Sunday to raise money for charity
