Due to the recent mild weather, a stark contrast to this time last year, the Estates team have been working hard around the School to ensure that everywhere is looking at its best. Thanks to this work the pupils will be able to benefit from the athletics track being laid out earlier than usual; therefore giving them an early kick-start to training.
Aside from the usual seasonal maintenance the team have been working on a number of other projects. Following the storms earlier in the year they are developing better measures to cope with further power cuts should they arise again in the future.
Also as part of Climate Week (3-9 March 2014) the Headmaster re-issued his Carbon Policy. The ongoing efforts of the Food Committee to drive down food waste, along with those of the Green Team, will help reinforce the School’s application for Silver level Low Carbon Charter accreditation in April. An important element of achieving this is active participation by staff and pupils, who are all actively encouraged to do what they can to reduce both the School’s and their individual environmental impact.
The Royal Hospital School Carbon Policy can be found on the School website.
