Junior Netball v Orwell Park

Junior 1st Team (U13A) Won 16-14

RHS had a positive start against Orwell Park and were moving well but unfortunately Millie Salter was injured after just 3 minutes. Molly Irvin stepped in to play centre and the girls fought hard to keep with Orwell Park. The second quarter saw George Nicholls and Emily Fretwell also play in the squad and deliver some quality netball. At half time RHS were two goals down and had to compose themselves before heading out for the second half of the game. RHS settled and started to link together as a squad again. The work rate in defence was exceptional and both Annie Tavainavesi and Libby Parker took some good interceptions. It was in the final few minutes of the game that RHS pulled ahead, with a long shot from Holly Folkard-Smith at the edge of the circle to put RHS in the lead. A great game by all, and well done to the girls for pulling back the game in the second half despite a very disrupted first half performance. Player of the match goes to Tor Williams for having her best performance to date and being calm and controlled with the ball. Well done girls – a great win!

Junior 2nd Team (U12A) Won 9-8

A nail-biting finish to the match on Saturday as the RHS team hung on to the lead to win by one goal. RHS were up at half time by 7 goals to 3 and looked dominant but Orwell fought back and prevented our shooters from getting the ball into the ‘D’ so that we could not increase our lead. They scored against the run of play as the RHS team tired and it was left to the final quarter where our defence, Charlotte Stenning, Ruby Parker and Freya Guckian, worked extremely hard to defend. The RHS team deservedly came out on top just as the final whistle blew. Charlotte Stenning was player of the match.

Junior 3rd Team (U13B) Won 23-5

The U13B team dominated against Orwell Park for the whole match with some sound attacking play. Captain Georgina Nicholls played very well at centre but player of the match must go to Beth Carnell for her excellent shooting.

Junior Netball v Ipswich High

U13B Won 9-6

The U13B team had a satisfying victory after a very even match against Ipswich High School. During the first quarter, Molly Williamson played well, finding space and passing accurately. At half time the score was 5—5. Alice Kilian and Beth Carnell both worked hard in the circle. In the third quarter, our defence prevented IHS from scoring while Georgina Nicholls and Molly Irving moved the ball up the court to attack with skill. The final score of 9—6 was a fair reflection of a hard fought match. Player of the match was Molly Irving for maximum effort and excellent focus throughout the game.

U12B Won 10-3

After a good warm-up, the girls were eager to get started. The first quarter got off to a great start with Lily Mason at WD taking an interception off the centre pass which allowed Amelia Anderson at GA to score. However, nerves slightly got the better of RHS which resulted in a number of unforced errors throughout the court. RHS settled in the second quarter which allowed Izzy Butler at C and Alex Jackson at WA to bring the ball smoothly through court and at times they displayed some very creative attacking movement. RHS defended well throughout the whole court which Ipswich High found hard to overcome. At half time, Esme Peters came on to WA and RHS knew they would have to work hard in order to secure the win. There were some great interceptions by Katie Bagnall and Alice Clayton in defence which made it hard for Ipswich to settle. Going into the last quarter RHS were only 3 goals up, so the game was still all to play for. Everyone on court worked tirelessly and there was a superb display of shooting from Morgan Thomas which helped RHS to take the win with the score being 10-3. Player of the match was awarded to Izzy Butler for her fantastic work rate at C.

U13A v Lost 20-22

Fantastic netball was displayed between RHS and Ipswich High, and despite RHS not winning the game their performance was outstanding. RHS played some smart netball with well-timed moves in attack, allowing shooters Tilly Arulampalam and Holly Folkard-Smith to settle in and gain their confidence. RHS dominated throughout parts of the game but they could not hold off Ipswich High in the closing minutes of the game. A great game of netball enjoyed by both teams and spectators. Player of the match was Holly Folkard-Smith.
