Don Topley said, “The Festivals are best in the country for these age groups. To have over 350 talented young cricketers playing on the stunning RHS pitches overlooking the River Stour is an inspiring sight. Seven former ‘old boys’ of the Festivals have now gone on to be full-time professional cricketers and five have represented England Under 19s in the last year. And over the past years the participants have enjoyed a surprise visits from some famous faces including former England internationals Mike Gatting, Nick Knight and Darren Gough.
He added, “These events also bring significant income to the local community with so many families visiting and staying around the Shotley Peninsula.”
